The Independence Eagles fell victim to the Brentwood Bruins''s stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They were dealt a 28-0 loss at the hands of the Bruins. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Independence in their matchups with Brentwood: they've now lost four in a row.
Peyton Kirton threw for 30 yards on six of 13 attempts. On the ground, Brayden Needham rushed for 27 yards.
Brentwood can attribute much of their success to Gavyn Nelson, who rushed for 98 yards and two touchdowns, and also picked up 43 receiving yards. Brentwood also got help from Clayton Merrill who showed off his sure hands for 85 receiving yards.
Independence's defeat dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Brentwood, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 9-0.
Independence will head out on the road to face off against Summit at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Brentwood, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Ravenwood at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Ravenwood is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road.
