Sadly, the Cook Inlet Academy Eagles are still looking for their first win of the season after 15 contests. They were dealt a 49-8 defeat at the hands of Birchwood Christian on Friday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Cook Inlet Academy has scored all season.
Leading Birchwood Christian to victory were Kaytee Reich and Annemarie Weihrich. Reich scored ten points along with eight steals and six rebounds, while Weihrich scored 11 points along with eight steals. Weihrich is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Elise Becker, who scored six points along with six rebounds and five steals.
Cook Inlet Academy dropped their record down to 0-15 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 18.7 points per game. As for Birchwood Christian, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-8.
Cook Inlet Academy will be playing in front of their home fans against Nanwalek at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Birchwood Christian, they will head out on the road to square off against Non Varsity Opponent at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
