The Briarfield Academy Rebels will be playing at home against the Claiborne Academy Rebels at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Briarfield Academy has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 417 points over their last eight games.
Briarfield Academy stacked a eighth blowout onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They breezed by Wilkinson County Christian Academy on the road to the tune of 52-6. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 30-6.
Briarfield Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ben Coullard, who picked up 134 receiving yards and two touchdowns, and also punched in two touchdowns on the ground. Coullard's longest reception was for an incredible 70 yards. Another player making a difference was Miller Holt, who threw for 199 yards and three touchdowns on only 14 passes.
Meanwhile, Claiborne Academy faced Tallulah Academy in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Claiborne Academy might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 44-16 to Tallulah Academy, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. Claiborne Academy just can't catch a break and has now endured five defeats in a row.
Briarfield Academy's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 8-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.8 points per game. As for Claiborne Academy, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Briarfield Academy against Claiborne Academy in their previous meeting back in September as the team secured a 58-8 victory.
