The Meeteetse Longhorns's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 65-44 walloping at the hands of Upton. While losing is never fun, Meeteetse can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Wyoming basketball rankings (they are ranked 34th, while Upton is ranked third).
Despite the loss, Meeteetse saw an underclassman step up: Max Potas scored 18 points. Another player making a difference was Jason Moody, who scored four points along with 13 rebounds.
Meeteetse now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Upton, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Meeteetse and Shoshoni will face off at 6:00 p.m. on December 16th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Upton will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Moorcroft at 5:00 p.m. on January 6, 2024. Moorcroft comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
