This season hasn't been kind to The Evansville Central Bears, who are still winless after their eighth game. They took a serious blow against Castle on Friday, falling 56-0. While losing is never fun, Evansville Central can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana football rankings (they are ranked 215th, while Castle is ranked 50th).
Antonio Harris continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Castle, rushing for 100 yards and four touchdowns on only 12 carries. Gavin Leach got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Evansville Central's loss was their ninth straight at home (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-9. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 9-0 Evansville Reitz and 12-3 Evansville Mater Dei (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 56.9% over those games). As for Castle, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-3.
Evansville Central will head out on the road to face off against Evansville North at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Evansville North focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up four on Friday. As for Castle, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Evansville Memorial at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
