Basketball Recap: Sandy Creek Now 4-1 over Last Five Games

If Nebraska Christian wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Sandy Creek, they should've done a better job of containing Ethan Shaw. The Sandy Creek Cougars simply couldn't be stopped on Thursday as they easily beat the Nebraska Christian Eagles 72-41 thanks in part to Shaw, who went 9 of 12 en route to 23 points and five rebounds. His evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Clark, who posted 14 points and seven boards. That's the most points he has posted since back in December of 2023.

Despite the loss, Nebraska Christian still got an impressive performance from Oliver Herman, who went 6 for 15 on his way to 21 points and five rebounds. That was a full 51.2% of Nebraska Christian's points, marking the seventh time in a row he's scored more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Nathan Bashige, who had seven points and six boards.

Sandy Creek is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-6 record this season. As for Nebraska Christian, they dropped their record down to 4-9 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road.

Sandy Creek didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 60-20 victory against Superior on the 18th. As for Nebraska Christian, they will be taking part in a tournament against Riverside at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
