Basketball Recap: Skipstone Academy Falls Despite Big Games from Nick Cloud and Scooter Barkley

Skipstone Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against the Trinity Christian School of Griffin LIONS, falling 68-44. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Warriors this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 79-36 back in December of 2024.

Skipstone Academy's loss came despite strong showings from Scooter Barkley and Nick Cloud. Barkley posted 21 points, while Cloud earned 11 points. The match was Barkley's sixth in a row with at least ten points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Trinity Christian School of Griffin to victory, but perhaps none more so than Israel Lockridge, who went 5 for 7 on his way to 11 points in addition to eight rebounds and eight steals. Lockridge is crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least five every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Travone Appling, who went 5 of 6 en route to 14 points along with eight boards and four steals.

Skipstone Academy now has a losing record at 5-6. As for Trinity Christian School of Griffin, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-4.

Skipstone Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 74-50 victory against Lafayette Christian on the 17th. As for Trinity Christian School of Griffin, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 76-56 win against Praise Academy on the 17th.
