Even though the North Smithfield Northmen have not done well against the Pilgrim Patriots recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. North Smithfield strolled past Pilgrim with points to spare, taking the game 39-25. Winning may never get old, but North Smithfield sure is getting used to it with their third in a row.
Leading North Smithfield to victory were Mya Silveira and Kate Zonin. Silveira scored 12 points along with three steals and two blocks, while Zonin scored seven points along with seven rebounds and seven steals. Another player making a difference was Olivia Labonte, who scored two points along with five steals.
North Smithfield has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-7 record this season. As for Pilgrim, their defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-13.
Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing Toll Gate the next time they take the court. North Smithfield will host Toll Gate at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, while Pilgrim will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
