The Franklin Central Flashes and the Zionsville Eagles will face off at 7:30 p.m. on December 15th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Zionsville took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Franklin Central, who comes in off a win.
The third road match was the charm for Franklin Central, as they earned their first road win of the season. They enjoyed a cozy 60-43 victory over Bloomington North on Saturday. Franklin Central's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Meanwhile, Zionsville's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. They received a tough blow as they fell 64-46 to Plainfield. While losing is never fun, Zionsville can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 177th, while Plainfield is ranked 16th).
Despite the defeat, Zionsville had strong showings from Maguire Mitchell, who scored 19 points along with seven rebounds, and Drew Snively, who scored 18 points. The matchup was Mitchell's fourth in a row with at least ten points.
Zionsville struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Franklin Central's win ended a seven-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-3. As for Zionsville, their defeat ended a nine-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 1-3.
Franklin Central came up short against Zionsville in their previous meeting back in December of 2022, falling 52-40. Can Franklin Central avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
