Softball Game Preview: Minooka Indians vs. Normal Community Ironmen

Minooka is a perfect 3-0 against Normal Community since March of 2023 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. Minooka will welcome Normal Community at 4:30 p.m. Normal Community took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Minooka, who comes in off a win.

Last Friday, Minooka made easy work of Sandburg and carried off a 12-3 victory. The Indians haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Dani Chorak looked comfortable as she pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Addisonn Crumly, who fired off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while going 3-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Karina Exstrom, who scored a run while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Normal Community was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss dating back to last season. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost an 8-7 heartbreaker at the hands of Rochester.

McKenna Baughman made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Hayley Michels, who scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.

Minooka's victory was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-0. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Normal Community, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-3.

Minooka took their victory against Normal Community when the teams last played back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 11-1. Will Minooka repeat their success, or does Normal Community has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
