The Denver Christian Thunder will take on the Front Range Christian Falcons at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. Denver Christian will be strutting in after a win while Front Range Christian will be coming in after a defeat.
Denver Christian is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Kent Denver with a sharp 21-9 victory on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Thunder, who have now won eight matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Mason Reilly made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, going 4-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, James Lord and Elijah Whitfield did most of the damage at the plate: Lord went 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI, while Whitfield went 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most hits Lord has posted since back in March of 2024. Trey Speir was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.
Denver Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .558. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Front Range Christian suffered their biggest loss since May 2, 2024 on Thursday. They lost 13-3 to Dawson School. The defeat continues a trend for the Falcons in their meetings with the Mustangs: they've now lost six in a row.
Front Range Christian saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Noah Angel, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.
The win made it two in a row for Denver Christian and bumps their season record up to 11-6. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.5 runs over those games. As for Front Range Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 10-7.
Everything went Denver Christian's way against Front Range Christian in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Denver Christian made off with an 11-0 win. Will the Thunder repeat their success, or do the Falcons have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
