Winning is just a little bit easier when you work as a team to rack up nine more assists than your opponent, a fact the Mountain View Mountain Lions proved on Tuesday. They took their contest at home with ease, bagging a 66-31 win over Fort Morgan. With Mountain View ahead 40-13 at the half, the game was all but over already.
Addison Branscum was her usual excellent self, scoring 25 points along with eight rebounds and three blocks. She has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last six times she's played. Caroline Soliz was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with three steals.
Despite the loss, Fort Morgan saw an underclassman step up: Charlotte Marquez scored 15 points along with five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Marquez has scored all season.
Fort Morgan struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. They are winless (0-4) when they can't control their own glass like that.
Mountain View has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. As for Fort Morgan, their loss was their 17th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-15.
Mountain View will stay at home for another game and welcome Northridge at 5:30 p.m. on February 1st. Mountain View is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 51.6 points per game this season. As for Fort Morgan, they and Severance will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 31st without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Severance will be up against Fort Morgan's rather soft defense (which has allowed 56.69 points per match), so fans could be in store for a big offensive showing.
