Leading Axtell to victory were Coldyn Horn and Levi Leathers. Horn scored 10 points, while Leathers scored 13 points. The contest was Leathers' third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Kelby Hollingsworth, who scored 6 points.
When it comes to explaining why Valor Preparatory Academy lost, one person who can't be blamed is Thomas Guess. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds. Guess scored a full 46.9% of Valor Preparatory Academy's points, the second time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Matthew Schlappe was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Axtell now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Valor Preparatory Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-4.
