The New Prairie Cougars are taking a road trip to challenge the La Porte Slicers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. New Prairie is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.4 runs per game this season.
It was a proper cat-fight when New Prairie faced off against South Bend Riley on Wednesday. The Cougars' pitcher stepped up to hand the Wildcats a 20-0 shutout. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Cougars.

New Prairie got a great performance from Dylan Bishop as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 14 over five innings pitched. Those 14 strikeouts gave Bishop a new career-high.
On the hitting side, Trent Mamazza and Riley Masters did most of the damage at the plate: Mamazza got on base in three of his five plate appearances with four RBI, one run, and one double, while Masters went 3-for-5 with three runs and two RBI. Those four RBI gave Mamazza a new career-high. Bryce Bell was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.
New Prairie kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as South Bend Riley didn't got any hits.
Meanwhile, La Porte entered their tilt with Michigan City on Wednesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They put the hurt on the Wolves with a sharp 7-0 victory.
Cody Benedict made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI.
In other batting news, Keli Hay was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. That double was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Gage Raymond, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
New Prairie's record now sits at 9-5. As for La Porte, their record is now 7-9.
New Prairie suffered a grim 14-8 defeat to La Porte in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Cougars avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
