Baseball Recap: St. Joseph Academy Makes It Nine in a Row on the Road

St. Joseph Academy won the last time they faced Ridgeview and things went their way on Monday too. The Flashes were the clear victors by a 12-1 margin over the Panthers. The Flashes might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten contests by six runs or more this season.

Bodie Figeon and Cullen Garner were a major factor no matter where they played. Throwing, Figeon tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Garner tossed 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Figeon has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. At bat, Figeon scored two runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances, while Garner scored three runs while going 2-for-3. Those three runs gave Garner a new career-high.

In other pitching news, Brett Belloni looked comfortable as he tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

Back at the plate, Eli Robshaw was incredible, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Connor Lewis was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-5.

St. Joseph Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .394. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ridgeview only posted a batting average of .150.

St. Joseph Academy's victory was their ninth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-4-1. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.4 runs over those games. As for Ridgeview, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-12.

St. Joseph Academy has already played their next matchup, an 8-7 loss against Palatka on the 8th. As for Ridgeview, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 10-0 defeat against Clay on the 8th.
