Williston has gone a perfect 5-0 against Columbia recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. After both having extra time off, the two teams will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 7:00 p.m. Williston is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season.
Williston fell victim to Crystal River and their airtight pitching crew last Thursday. They fell just short of the Pirates by a score of 1-0. The Red Devils have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
The result came thanks to Aubrey Bertrand's shutout, as she gave up just three hits and racked up ten Ks. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, Columbia waltzed into their contest last Thursday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They came out on top against the Knights by a score of 7-3.
Harleigh Price spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on three hits and racked up 12 Ks. Furthermore, she didn't allow a single walk, the first time she has blanked an opponent since back in April of 2024.
On the hitting side, Luisa Taylor was excellent, scoring a run while going 4-for-5. Sakiya Merriex was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.
Taylor wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Columbia kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in three consecutive games.
Columbia's win bumped their record up to 10-3. As for Williston, their loss dropped their record down to 7-5.
Williston's speedy runners might be the difference in Tuesday's match. Williston has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 6.8 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Columbia, though, as they've been averaging only 1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Williston continue to outrun the ball?
Williston skirted past Columbia 6-5 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Does Williston have another victory up their sleeve, or will Columbia turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
