It was a good run, but the Quitman Panthers unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Saturday. Their rough 52-31 loss to Ingomar might stick with them for a while. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Quitman has scored all season.
When it comes to explaining why Quitman lost, one person who can't be blamed is AIYANNA DEAR. Despite the final result, she scored nine points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jahyla Dubuse, who scored six points.
It was another big night for Macie Phifer, who scored 22 points along with nine rebounds for Ingomar. The match was Phifer's 13th in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Cadie Jo Byrd, who scored 12 points.
Quitman's loss dropped their record down to 14-4. As for Ingomar, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 18-4.
Quitman will be playing at home against Mendenhall at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mendenhall will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Mississippi Rankings (they are ranked 86th, while Quitman is ranked 17th). As for Ingomar, they will head out on the road to face off against South Pontotoc at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. South Pontotoc will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive.
