It was another big night for Nevaeh Lucero, who almost dropped a double-double on 20 points and nine steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last six games she's played. Yzabella Tafoya was another key player, going 6 for 15 on her way to 14 points in addition to six boards and four steals.
Skyview was working as a unit and finished the game with 23 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Green Mountain strolled past Peak to Peak with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 45-27.
Skyview better focus on containing Addie Evans and Ella Cockrum as the pair were huge in Green Mountain's win. Evans dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 boards, while Cockrum posted 13 points. With that strong performance, Evans is now averaging an impressive 2.1 steals per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Kantyn Pearson, who put up five points.
Skyview's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-3. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 25.7 points per game. As for Green Mountain, their victory bumped their record up to 10-2.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Skyview has crashing the boards this season, having averaged 29.1 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Green Mountain struggles in that department as they've been averaging 24.8 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Skyview didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Green Mountain in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, but they still walked away with a 46-40 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Skyview since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
