Bentley extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to five on Thursday, dropping them down to 0-3. They came up short against the Morrice Orioles, falling 22-15. The Bulldogs were not able to make up for their defeat to the Orioles from their previous meeting back in May of 2025.

William 'Will' Newton and Garrett Leonard stepped up to the plate in a big way. Newton got on base in three of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI, while Leonard went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run. Newton is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Gavin Brewer, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
As for Morrice, they pushed their record up to 3-2 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.1 runs over those games.
On Morrice's side, Brandon Schmidtfranz made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He pitched 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Schmidtfranz was even better at the plate, going a perfect 6-for-6 with four runs, two stolen bases, and three RBI. Those four runs gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Oliver Long, who went 5-for-6 with one home run, three stolen bases, and five runs. Those five hits gave him a new career-high. Austin Gutting was another key player, getting on base in three of his six plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and two RBI.
Coming up, Bentley will head out on the road to challenge Genesee at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Bulldogs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wolves have averaged an impressive 9.2 runs per game this season. As for Morrice, they will host Bendle at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
