It was a good run, but the Lincoln Fighting Zebras unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Thursday. They had to suffer through a rough 74-45 loss at the hands of Placer. While losing is never fun, Lincoln can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 331st, while Placer is ranked 89th).
Jacob Butler and Andrew Vocal certainly did their best on Thursday to try and avoid the loss. Butler scored four points along with three steals and two blocks, while Vocal scored ten points along with eight rebounds. Vocal continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Frankie Toney, who scored five points.
Lincoln's loss dropped their record down to 11-7. As for Placer, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 18-2 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lincoln won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Woodland Christian at 7:30 p.m. on January 12th. Woodland Christian will be looking to keep their seven-game home win streak alive. As for Placer, they will head out on the road to square off against Nevada Union at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Nevada Union has struggled recently with three losses in a row, while Placer will arrive with three straight wins.
