The Rogers Rams pushed their score all the way to 61 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 66-61 hit to the loss column at the hands of Anthony Wayne. While losing is never fun, Rogers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 153rd, while Anthony Wayne is ranked eighth).
Elise Bender continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Anthony Wayne, going 6 for 11 from beyond the arc en route to 32 points and 3 assists. Bender is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 15 or more in the last seven games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooke Bender, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Rogers' loss dropped their record down to 9-7. As for Anthony Wayne, their win was their 18th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-2.
Rogers will head out on the road to take on Springfield at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Anthony Wayne, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Whitmer at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Whitmer focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 last Monday.
