Even though the Lowpoint-Washburn Wildcats have not done well against the Putnam County Panthers recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Lowpoint-Washburn walked away with a 64-55 victory over Putnam County. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
It was another big night for Baylor Steffen, who scored 28 points along with eight steals. The contest was his fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brendin Melton, who scored ten points.
Lowpoint-Washburn's victory bumped their record up to 9-4. As for Putnam County, they are on a eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-8.
Lowpoint-Washburn will be home for the holidays to greet Leland at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Leland is coming into the game on a five-game losing streak. As for Putnam County, they will head out on the road to face off against Seneca at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
