Dilley hasn't had much luck against Cotulla recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Wolves will face off against the Cowboys at 5:00 p.m. Dilley will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.
Dilley took an 11-run defeat the last time they faced off against Natalia, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Wolves narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Mustangs 12-11. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Wolves have posted since February 13, 2025.
Madelyne Proctor was incredible, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with four stolen bases, three runs, and one double. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 1.1 stolen bases per game. Danica Cano also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.
Meanwhile, Cotulla waltzed into their contest on Friday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. They put the hurt on the Javelinas with a sharp 14-2 win. The Cowboys might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine games by six runs or more this season.
Christlyn Munoz made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits (and not a single walk). Munoz was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sareen Ramirez, who fired off two home runs, four runs, and three RBI while going 3-for-4. She is also on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Jackeline Alba, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.
Cotulla lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Dilley's record is now 11-5-1. As for Cotulla, their record now sits at 10-6.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Dilley has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Cotulla struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Dilley suffered a grim 12-2 defeat to Cotulla when the teams last played on March 9th. Can the Wolves avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
