Chalker hasn't had much luck against Grand Valley recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Wildcats will challenge the Mustangs at 5:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Chalker has three straight wins, Grand Valley has five straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Last Wednesday, Chalker beat Mineral Ridge 9-5.
Tatum Hudak made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 13 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. Hudak was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Abby Grimm, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four runs, and two RBI. Morgan Strock was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 4-for-4.
Chalker was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .484. The last time their batting average was this high was back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, Grand Valley fell victim to Mathews and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They lost 9-0 to Mathews.
Chalker's record is now 3-0. As for Grand Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-3.
Grand Valley's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Chalker has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .494. It's a different story for Grand Valley, though, as they've only averaged .203. Will they be able to contain Chalker's hitters?
Chalker came up short against Grand Valley when the teams last played back in April of 2017, falling 5-1. Can the Wildcats avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
