The Franklin-Simpson Wildcats waltzed into their game Friday with two straight wins but they left with three. They had just enough and edged White House-Heritage out 59-56. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Despite the loss, White House-Heritage still got an impressive performance from Avery Coles, who scored 26 points along with nine rebounds and three blocks. The game was Coles' sixth in a row with at least ten points. Eli Gregory was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with eight rebounds.
Franklin-Simpson now has a winning record of 5-4. As for White House-Heritage, their loss dropped their record down to 8-4.
Franklin-Simpson will finish 2023 at home by hosting Portland at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Portland is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak. White House-Heritage's road trip will continue as they head out to face Hendersonville at 3:00 p.m. on December 28th. Hendersonville and White House-Heritage are at an even 3-3 over their past six head-to-heads.
