Wagner is 1-0 against Hays since October of 2022, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Wagner Thunderbirds will head out on the road to face off against the Hays Hawks at 7:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Wagner has three straight victories, Hays has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Last Friday, Wagner earned a 34-21 victory over Boerne-Champion.
Wagner's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Juan'yae Taylor, who rushed for 150 yards and a touchdown. Taylor's longest rush was for an incredible 78 yards. Cameron Smith and his 91 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Wagner's victory.
Meanwhile, Hays ended up a good deal behind Seguin on Friday and lost 42-24. That's two games in a row now that Hays has lost by exactly 18 points.
Wagner's victory lifted them to 5-2 while Hays' loss dropped them down to 3-4.
Everything went Wagner's way against Hays when the teams last played back in October of 2022 as Wagner made off with a 42-21 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Wagner since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
