The Wasatch Wasps are on the road again on Friday to play the Juab Wasps at 8:30 a.m. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
After a 12-11 finish the last time they played, Wasatch and Uintah decided to play a little more cautiously this time around. Wasatch came out on top against Uintah by a score of 3-0 on Saturday. The victory was just what Wasatch needed coming off of a 6-0 loss in their prior contest.
Kolden Hafen looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and only two hits over four innings pitched. Carter Bucad came in to relieve Hafen and was airtight, giving up no runs, hits or walks in his three innings pitched.
At the plate, Wasatch's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Zach Burdette, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2. Another player making a difference was Ryker Evans, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI.
Meanwhile, everything went Juab's way against Emery on Tuesday as Juab made off with a 10-1 victory. That nine run margin sets a new team best for Juab this season.
Connor Cowan and Kanyon Matinson were a major factor no matter where they played. On the mound, Cowan struck out nine batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and not a single walk). Meanwhile, Matinson pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (he also didn't allow any walks). At the plate, Cowan scored a run while going 2-for-3, while Matinson went 2-for-4 with three RBI and a double.
In other batting news, Austin Park was incredible, going 4-for-4 with a home run, three runs, and four RBI. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryce Bowles, who scored three runs while going 2-for-3.
The win got Wasatch back to even at 2-2. As for Juab, the victory also got them back to even at 3-3.
