The Danville Christian Academy Warriors will venture away from home to challenge the Garrard County Golden Lions at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Having struggled with four defeats in a row dating back to last season, Danville Christian Academy turned things around against Washington County on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Commanders as they made off with a 13-5 victory.
Madison Carpenter was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She tossed one inning while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Carpenter was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, Amauri Blackford was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Paisley Metz, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
Danville Christian Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .656. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Washington County only posted an OBP of .280.
Meanwhile, Garrard County got the win against Shelby County last Monday by a conclusive 10-1.
Like Danville Christian Academy, Garrard County also got a great game from a two-way player: Emily Hounshell. On the mound, she struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. What's more, Hounshell gave up only three walks, the fewest she's had since back in March of 2024. She was even better at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jazlynn Shelton, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Riley Murphy, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2.
The win got Danville Christian Academy back to even at 1-1. As for Garrard County, the victory also got them back to even at 1-1.
Danville Christian Academy might still be hurting after the 15-0 loss they got from Garrard County when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can Danville Christian Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
