Verdugo Hills had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They were dealt a 47-6 loss at the hands of the Marquez Gladiators on Friday. Marquez got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jonathan Ramirez out in front who picked up 152 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns. Ramirez showed off some serious burst, connecting on a big catch for 65 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Angelo Gutierrez-Molina, who threw for 152 yards and two TDs on only 11 passes.
Verdugo Hills will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Hoover at 5:30 p.m. on September 5. As for Marquez, they will face off against Bell at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
