The Greeley Central Wildcats's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fourth straight loss. They took a 50-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of Longmont. The match was a 25-25 toss-up at halftime, but Greeley Central couldn't quite close it out.
When it comes to explaining why Greeley Central lost, one person who can't be blamed is Reid Arlo richardson. Despite the final result, he scored 18 points. Arlo richardson continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Guillermo Gonzalez meraz, who scored seven points along with nine rebounds.
Longmont found their leader in underclassman Joey Foot, who scored ten points along with two blocks. It was the first time this season that Foot posted two or more blocks. Another player making a difference was Cole Corner, who scored 15 points.
Greeley Central has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-12 record this season. As for Longmont, they pushed their record up to 12-7 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Greeley Central will play host again and welcome Silver Creek, where tip off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Greeley Central focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Saturday. As for Longmont, they will be playing at home against Greeley West at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Longmont is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Greeley West in Colorado (Longmont is ranked 79th, while Greeley West is ranked 259th).
