B District 4 recap October 22, 2013
Blair extended the longest winning streak in B District 4 this week by beating South Sioux City, 42-0. The victory was the fourth in a row for the team.
The Cardinals lost to Blair 42-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Kaleb Comstock ran for 135 yards in the loss.
Bennington's dynamic duo of Hayden Renter and Layne Laaker proved tough for Schuyler to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Renter threw for 62 yards and Laaker had 38 yards receiving. Riley Rischling helped Bennington's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 24 yards.
Luis Garcia made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Warriors lost to the Badgers. The 5-foot-8 junior recorded 1 fumble.
Comstock provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Matt Lafleur's team lost to Darren Harsin's team. Comstock's favorite target this week was Alex Borchers, who caught 2 passes for 19 yards.
The Cardinals' Jake Schmiedt and Sammy Flores have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Schmiedt has thrown for 953 yards this season, while Flores has 19 catches for 306 yards. Will Schany from the Bears leads the league in rushing with 841 yards.
The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Bennington takes on second place Blair. Last week, Bennington defeated Schuyler, while Blair beat South Sioux City.
One of B District 4's premier quarterbacks will face off with its top pass rusher when the Cardinals and Casey Winings' team face off next week.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Greg Bohn's team takes on the Bears. The Badgers have allowed 156 points this season, while Blair has given up 145. Bennington allowed 15 points last week as it topped the Warriors.
