Fond du Lac fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Appleton North on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They wound up with the same score they had in their last game (5-4), but sadly the team found themselves on the wrong side of the score this time. Their loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Susan Vokes put in work no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over 5.2 innings pitched. What's more, she gave up only five hits, the fewest she's had since back in April. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run and two runs.
Vokes wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Mallory Thorpe, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.
Fond du Lac's defeat dropped their record down to 11-6. As for Appleton North, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-3.
