William Blount has gone a perfect 10-0 against West recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The William Blount Governors will be playing at home against the West Rebels at 5:30 p.m. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
On Wednesday, William Blount had just enough and edged out Maryville 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Governors have posted against the Red Rebels since May 5, 2021.

Katee Owens spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.
At the plate, William Blount saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Chloe Merriman, who scored a run while going 1-for-2. Bella Jones also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Meanwhile, West hadn't done well against Bearden recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. West skirted past Bearden 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Rebels have posted since April 17, 2024.
West also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Brooke Weaver gave up only one earned (and one unearned) run on six hits.
On the hitting side, Claire Davenport was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-2.
William Blount's win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for West, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.
West's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Thursday. William Blount has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 10 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for West, though, as they've been averaging only 2.8 strikeouts. Will William Blount keep running through batters, or will West buck the trend?
William Blount came out on top in a nail-biter against West in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, sneaking past 1-0. Will William Blount repeat their success, or does West have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
