Marcos de Niza was sadly handed a loss on Tuesday, but Leila Rodriguez did her best to prevent it. Nobody could stop Rodriguez as she struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

Looking ahead, Rodriguez and Marcos de Niza will challenge Moon Valley at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. The Padres got just the result they wanted when they last faced the Rockets thanks in part to Rodriguez: she pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
