Baseball Recap: Friday's Victory Is Shorewood's Seventh in Last Eight Outings

Shorewood won against Archbishop Murphy last Wednesday with nine runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. The Stormrays were the clear victors by a 9-1 margin over the Mountlake Terrace Hawks. The result was nothing new for the Stormrays, who have now won seven contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Joey Facilla was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching six innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, Kanata Barber was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Danny Morgan, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-4.

Shorewood kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive games.

Shorewood is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Mountlake Terrace, they dropped their record down to 4-8 with the loss, which was their third straight at home.

Shorewood will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Hawks: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
