Lowell is 1-8 against Kankakee Valley since December of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Lowell Red Devils will head out on the road to face off against the Kankakee Valley Kougars at 7:00 p.m. Lowell is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road.
Lowell struggled with threes on Tuesday (Crown Point had 700% more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Lowell ended up on the wrong side of a rough 68-46 walloping at the hands of Crown Point.
Despite the loss, Lowell had strong showings from Kirstin Summers, who scored 15 points, and Elysia Laub, who scored 8 points along with 10 rebounds. Summers scored a full 32.6% of Lowell's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Meanwhile, Kankakee Valley came tearing into Tuesday's contest with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.7 points) and they left with even more momentum. They enjoyed a cozy 54-40 win over Michigan City. Given Kankakee Valley's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 94th, while Michigan City is ranked 272nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Hanover Central's win bumped their season record to 0-0 while Lowell's loss dropped theirs to 6-1.
Lowell was dealt a bruising 70-40 defeat at the hands of Kankakee Valley in their previous meeting back in December of 2022. Can Lowell avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
