Joel Gornto was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. Gornto was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple.
