Stansbury and Cottonwood are an even 4-4 against one another since April of 2021, but likely not for long. Stansbury will take on Cottonwood at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. One thing working in Stansbury's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last three games.
Last Friday, Stansbury made easy work of Hillcrest and carried off a 15-5 win. The result was nothing new for the Stallions, who have now won five matches by seven runs or more so far this season.
Landon Palmer was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest he's had since back in May of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Xaviah Patch and Beckham Rowley did most of the damage at the plate: Patch scored two runs while going 2-for-4, while Rowley scored three runs while going 2-for-2. That's the most hits Patch has posted since back in May of 2024. Jaxon Adams was another key player, going 2-for-3 with four RBI.
Stansbury was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .519. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 11 runs the game before, Cottonwood was a bit more limited in their contest on Friday. They took a 5-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of Tooele. The game marked the Colts' lowest-scoring match so far this season.
Cottonwood saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ladainian Gutierrez, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
Stansbury is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. Having lost for the first time this season, Cottonwood fell to 7-1.
Monday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Stansbury hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .385. However, it's not like Cottonwood struggles in that department as they've averaged .368. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
