The Pattonsburg Panthers will head out on the road to face off against the Albany Warriors on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Pattonsburg fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back victories it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They took their matchup at home on Friday with ease, bagging a 52-6 win over North Andrew.
Gage Iddings continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 268 yards and six touchdowns while completing 83.8% of his passes, and also rushing for 90 yards and a touchdown on only seven carries. Camden Griffith also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Albany can now show off four landslide victories after their most recent game on Friday. They blew past King City 62-12 on the road. The victory was just what Albany needed coming off of a 90-66 defeat in their prior matchup.
Albany got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Chase Cline out in front who threw for 148 yards and four touchdowns on only nine passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Quentin Hurkman was another key contributor, rushing for 93 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries.
Pattonsburg's victory bumped their record up to 3-6. As for Albany, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season.
We should be in store for an exciting game Friday as the two teams have no problem gaining yardage. Pattonsburg has been on an offensive roll this season, having averaged 469.6 total yards per game. However, it's not like Albany struggles in that department as they've been averaging 358.8 per game. With a pair of commanding offenses duking it out, the defenses are going to have their work cut out for them.
Pattonsburg took their victory against Albany in their previous meeting two weeks ago by a conclusive 90-66. Does Pattonsburg have another victory up their sleeve, or will Albany turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
