Springboro is 8-2 against Fairmont since May of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Panthers will host the Firebirds at 5:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Springboro sitting on five straight wins and Fairmont on three.
While Springboro's victory against Springfield wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Panthers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 win over the Wildcats on Friday. While the Panthers didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-11), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Katie Jonas spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Bella Miller was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Vanessa Hornfeck, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one double and one RBI.
Springboro hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least three batters in five consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Fairmont earned a 9-5 victory over Stebbins on Saturday.
Fairmont also got a great performance from Rylee Sier as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over 4.2 innings pitched.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Hannah Perdue, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. She also put up a triple, which was her first of the season. Paige Russell was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.
Springboro pushed their record up to 8-3 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Fairmont, their win bumped their record up to 5-1.
Monday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Springboro hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .344. However, it's not like Fairmont struggles in that department as they've averaged .336. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Springboro might still be hurting after the 9-3 loss they got from Fairmont in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Panthers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
