The Rolesville Rams are taking a road trip to challenge the East Wake Warriors at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Rolesville is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak.
On Monday, Rolesville came up short against Millbrook and fell 18-13. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Wednesday (ten), the Rams still had to take the loss.
Marissa D'Antonio was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Gianna D'Antonio, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Meanwhile, East Wake hadn't done well against C.B. Aycock recently (they were 1-6 in their previous seven matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Warriors won by a run and slipped past the Golden Falcons 8-7. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Warriors.
Madison Keith was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and five unearned) runs off eight hits (and not a single walk). Keith was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Katelyn Smith was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Alissa Flood, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
East Wake hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.
Rolesville's defeat dropped their record down to 3-13. As for East Wake, their record now sits at 9-5.
Rolesville came up short against East Wake in their previous matchup back in March, falling 7-4. Can the Rams avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
