The Newberg Tigers will head out on the road to take on the Glencoe Crimson Tide at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Having struggled with three defeats in a row, Newberg turned things around against Liberty on Friday. They came out on top against the Falcons by a score of 6-2.
Gracie Spry spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on eight hits and racked up six Ks.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Lucy Kitchen, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three doubles, and one RBI. Brooklyn Williams also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Meanwhile, Glencoe came tearing into Thursday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 7-6 W against the Crusaders. That's two games straight that the Crimson Tide have won by just one run.
Irene Vandyke was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one double. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Kalli Farrimond, who went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Glencoe pushed their record up to 10-4 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Newberg, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.
Newberg might still be hurting after the 11-2 loss they got from Glencoe in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Tigers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
