The Elkton Golden Elks suffered their biggest loss since December 7, 2023 on Friday. They took a serious blow against Havre de Grace, falling 49-20. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Elkton in their matchups with Havre de Grace: they've now lost four in a row.
Despite the loss, Elkton saw an underclassman step up: Madison Wright scored three points along with two steals.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Elkton struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Azareya Whiting continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Havre de Grace, scoring ten points along with five assists and five rebounds. Whiting is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryleigh Curry, who scored eight points along with two steals.
Elkton bumped their record down to 1-8 with that defeat, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Havre de Grace, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Elkton will take on C. Milton Wright at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Havre de Grace, they will be playing at home against Aberdeen at 3:30 p.m. on Monday.
