The Cypress Falls Eagles will venture away from home to take on the Stratford Spartans at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
It was a Battle of the Birds when Cypress Falls took on Jersey Village on Tuesday. The Eagles came up short against the Falcons, falling 3-0. The Eagles haven't had much luck with the Falcons recently, as the team has come up short the last eight times they've met.
While Cypress Falls was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 25-21, 25-18.
Meanwhile, Stratford entered their tilt with Cy-Fair on Tuesday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They came within a single set of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Bobcats. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Spartans have posted since September 6th.
Stratford took Cy-Fair into a fifth set where they got it done with a two-point win. The match finished with set scores of 24-26, 25-21, 25-12, 23-25, 15-13.
Stratford's win came from a few key players Cypress Falls will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Kate Smith, who had 12 digs and four assists. Those 12 digs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Caroline White, who had nine digs and one assist.
Cypress Falls' defeat dropped their record down to 13-26. As for Stratford, their win bumped their record up to 21-13.
Cypress Falls might still be hurting after the 3-0 loss they got from Stratford in their previous matchup back in September. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
