The Wallace-Rose Hill Bulldogs will head out on the road to square off against the East Duplin Panthers at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Wallace-Rose Hill is hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Wallace-Rose Hill pushed their score all the way to 66 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 71-66 hit to the loss column at the hands of Kinston. While losing is never fun, Wallace-Rose Hill can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 306th, while Kinston is ranked 97th).
Despite the defeat, Wallace-Rose Hill saw an underclassman step up: Jamarae Lamb scored 22 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Lamb has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Marlo Harris, who scored 13 points.
Meanwhile, East Duplin scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They enjoyed a cozy 76-60 victory over South Lenoir. That 16 points margin sets a new team best for East Duplin this season.
Zachary Ball and Calvin Harper were among the main playmakers for East Duplin as the former scored 14 points along with eight rebounds and six assists and the latter went 7 for 9 from beyond the arc en route to 25 points and 0 assists. That's the first time this season that Ball pulled down eight or more rebounds. Luke Hughes was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Wallace-Rose Hill now has a losing record at 5-6. As for East Duplin, their victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-11.
This contest is shaping up to be a blowout: Wallace-Rose Hill hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 57 points per game. It's a different story for East Duplin, though, as they've been averaging only 46.9 points per game. The only thing between Wallace-Rose Hill and another offensive beatdown is East Duplin. Will they be able to keep them contained?
Wallace-Rose Hill ended up a good deal behind East Duplin when the teams last played back in February of 2023, losing 58-44.
