The Middle Creek Mustangs scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They claimed a resounding 91-55 victory over Garner at home. That 91-55 margin sets a new team best for Middle Creek this season.
Ava Skladanowski was her usual excellent self, going 8 for 12 from beyond the arc en route to 28 points and 2 assists. She continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Alysia Pergerson, who scored 16 points along with seven assists and five rebounds.
Despite the defeat, Garner had strong showings from Sumayah Jones, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds, and Olivia Jacobs, who scored 20 points along with nine rebounds and six assists. Jacobs scored a full 36.4% of Garner's points, the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Tyasiah Holder was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
The victory (which was Middle Creek's third in a row) raised their record to 4-2. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 27.67 points. As for Garner, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Middle Creek will challenge Green Hope at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Garner, they will head out on the road to face off against Orange at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Orange focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 25 on Friday.
