Last Friday, Cornerstone Christian faced Jacksonville Christian Academy in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Cornerstone Christian was beaten by Jacksonville Christian Academy 46-7. The low total for Cornerstone Christian limited their streak of high-flying scores to four in a row.
Despite the loss, Cornerstone Christian saw an underclassman step up: Jess Nelson rushed for 108 yards and a touchdown on only nine carries. Nelson was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 65 yards.
Meanwhile, Southern Prep Academy pushed their score all the way to 38 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They were outmatched by Ezekiel Academy on the road and fell 74-38. Southern Prep Academy was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 40-18.
Even though the team lost, they still came through with several impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Kevin Mason, who rushed for 208 yards and two touchdowns on only ten carries, and also threw for 171 yards and two touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Jahziyah Anderson, who gained 92 total yards and three touchdowns.
Cornerstone Christian's loss dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Southern Prep Academy, they now have a losing record at 4-5.

Cornerstone Christian commands a daunting offense this season, having averaged 4.8 touchdowns per game. However, it's not like Southern Prep Academy struggles in that department as they've been even better at 5.1 per game.
