Softball Recap: Riverview Has No Trouble Against Taylor

Riverview won the last time they faced Taylor and things went their way on Friday too. The Pirates blew past the Griffins 17-1. The Pirates might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 matches by six runs or more this season.

Olivia Salinas made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Ella Vinco was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April. Sienna Logan also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen bases of the season.

Riverview kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Taylor only managed two hits.

The win made it two in a row for Riverview and bumps their season record up to 21-7-1. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.5 runs over those games. As for Taylor, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost ten of their last 13 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-14 record this season.

Riverview will head out to face off against Grosse Ile at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Pirates are facing the Red Devils at the right time seeing as the Red Devils are stuck on a seven-game losing streak. As for Taylor, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Jefferson at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
