The Academic Magnet Raptors's game last Tuesday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They snuck past Lake Marion with a 39-34 win. This was a revenge contest for Academic Magnet, as the team was forced to settle for a 50-41 defeat when these two played last Friday.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Academic Magnet to victory, but perhaps none more so than Sophia Benich, who scored six points along with five rebounds and four steals. Abby Brauchle was another key contributor, scoring six points along with eight rebounds.
Lake Marion's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Danasia Wright, who scored six points along with 17 rebounds and two steals. Wright hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Teonna Allen, who scored seven points along with nine rebounds and two steals.
Even though they lost, Lake Marion smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 25 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Academic Magnet's victory bumped their record up to 7-18. As for Lake Marion, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 11 of their last 14 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-14 record this season.
