Hickory is 6-0 against West Iredell since January of 2022, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Hickory Red Tornadoes will head out on the road to take on the West Iredell Warriors at 7:30 p.m. Hickory is looking to tack on another W to their 14-game streak on the road dating back to last season.
Hickory proved they can win big on Wednesday (they won by 25) but on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged Wesleyan Christian Academy out 51-49. Despite the win, that was the fewest points Hickory has scored all year.
Hickory's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Izaiah Littlejohn, who scored 14 points. Jordan Powell was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
West Iredell suffered their biggest loss yet this season last Friday. Their rough 77-53 loss to Foard might stick with them for a while. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat West Iredell has suffered against Foard since February 8, 2019.
Hickory's win bumped their record up to 12-0. As for West Iredell, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-9 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Hickory against West Iredell in their previous meeting back in February of 2023 as the team secured a 79-29 victory. With Hickory ahead 44-15 at the half, the match was all but over already.
